[Background] Unfortunately the series is so old that no one has devoted a fleshed-out wiki to it. The short version is that the Weiss vigilante group's 4 men are the protagonists of the series. Their principal rivals are the Takatori family members and the assassin group Schwarz. Nagi is the most junior member of Schwarz, whose members all possess psychic powers. Nagi's backstory (as explained in Drama Collection 1) was that he killed his own mother willfully after being tormented by locals about his powers around age 2. He was left in the care of a church orphanage up until a year or so before the start of the anime series. There, he was under the care of a Catholic Sister, Amamiya Kaoruko, who was trying to coax out his powers at the direction of Crawford, in the service of Schwarz and Estet presumably. Apparently Nagi locked away the memory of how to use his powers along with his mother's death. Nagi met Ken when Weiss was ordered to kill the Sister, who was convincing people through "therapy" to do terrible things. Ken had grown up in the same orphanage but had left 5 years before Nagi arrived, so Ken believed the sister was pure, same as Nagi. Ken tried to thwart Weiss by going to the church ahead of them and Nagi approached Ken about not betraying the Sister. Nagi was so concerned that his powers started to return, shaking the building. Ken left, but returned when Weiss did. Upon hearing the Sister's flawed justification, Ken ended up being the one to kill the Sister. This destroyed Nagi and he screamed in the corner of the chapel as he brought down the building using a whirlwind of his powers. Crawford retrieved Nagi and they flew to Estet's Rosenkrüs facility in the Austrian Alps for training. Nagi swore vengeance not only on Weiss, but Ken particularly. ✖ Continued here. [Personality] Nagi is best described as 'quiet' - not inactive, because he does tend to keep busy, but he acts like speaking isn't worth his effort and would rather communicate through short-wave telepathy. One might go so far as to call him lazy in the sense that he would rather be as efficient as possible and not waste energy; for example, he will remain motionless and surf the internet using his telekinesis to type on the keyboard. He also protested when Schwarz helped Reiji Takatori achieve the Prime Ministership and implement martial, citing it as not part of their assignment from Estet. Since he is normally so insular, he won't want to communicate over the network that much at first. In time that may change as he realizes he is not in perpetual hiding from the authorities. It takes some prodding, but he can actually be motivated to accomplish things, especially if someone from Schwarz or Omi is also involved. He is an assassin, after all. Death and blood are part of life to him and have been since he was very small. For most of his life he has not been motivated by curiosity, glory, or sympathy, only personal self-interest or self-preservation. Crawford even chastises him for this. His self-worth is largely dictated by the usefulness he brings to Schwarz, and later as Omi's bodyguard / independent operative. As a member of Kritiker, the altruistic nature of his missions has started to temper many aspects of his personality and drive. One specific trait has not changed since he was young, which is that for all his power and intelligence, he is still ruled by his emotions. If not a mission for Omi or Schwarz, he acts entirely on his own whims, or doesn't for a lack thereof. He loses control of his abilities when he gets upset, and he makes irrational choices when it's in his own self-interest. For example, he visited Töt in a forest at Masafumi's / Schreient's laboratory complex, without telling Schwarz. When confronted with his motivations for doing so, he outright lied to Schuldig, a telepath. Even Farfarello was not fooled. So not only did Nagi do it because Töt is "different" and he likes her, but he also maintained a stubborn independence from Schwarz's activities on the matter. Even into Gluhen, he is dispassionate about killing people - it was other things that affected him. He was upset that the crazed students of the Z Class gave up their lives in such a fashion, rather than trying to survive. For all his wild emotions, he is not suicidal or "emo." Admittedly, he's a bit of a doormat due to being tormented for his powers as a child (going so far as to kill his own mother), but is definitely choosy about who he takes orders from (ex: not mother). He'll listen to anybody who can demonstrate superior power, or is persuasive enough to convince him it's in his own benefit. Due to Omi's influence, he will be a bit more trusting of strangers and more outgoing as he settles into a public lifestyle. After leaving the orphanage, the extent of his freetime was not spent among peers enjoying life, but rather on the internet or in training with Schwarz. To return to that freedom of activity will be unusual, but it will allow curiosity and hobbies (like photoshopping!) back into his life after approximately 5 years. ✖ Continued here. [Specialties/Abilities] Telekinesis: This is Nagi's swiss army knife; he uses in his daily life and he uses it for missions. Some of his demonstrated combat uses have been: - Flight - Collapsing structures - Crushing / twisting human bodies - Directing lightning / weather - Forcing objects / humans towards and away from him (visually replicating gusts of wind) - Stopping bullets and other things in midair - Manipulating specific bodily functions - "Invisible Hand" manual dexterity tricks, like flicking a lightswitch - Phasing through walls Psychic Awareness: Nagi has become a certifiable receptor of psychic energy, most often telepathy. Mainly this ability acts like a "sixth sense," especially if he knows them well, like the other Schwarz members, Weiss, or Schreient. He has developed both telepathy and telepathic shielding that I'll keep locked down until he's been in the game awhile, with mod permission. [Affection] Nagi does not initiate anything. He likes his personal bubble and will attempt to maintain it with his telekinesis if he has enough reaction time for it, out of habit for being attacked. Characters can initiate hugs, kisses, flirtations, etc. if A) they convince Nagi ICly they are not trying to hurt him before acting or B) the player convinces me that they could sneak up on Nagi - not impossible to do! He's not in a binding relationship at present, but he does have a crush on canonmate Töt. [Fighting] By all means fight with Nagi! He's used to it and I enjoy combat prose, coming from a background of tabletop RP-ing. He can be killed, but please plot ahead for maiming or other serious non-life-threatening injuries due to player squick. Please just bear in mind that he is a trained assassin when it comes to sneaking up on him. [Other Permissions] Telepathic characters can read his mind until he gets his shields back up & running, but Nagi retains the ability to notice it happening. Please no fourth-walling. Other than that I'm quite open to plotting with other players so just contact me! [Other Facts] Nagi is very techno-savvy (hence the username) as a hacker, programmer, and researcher. Of course, this was as of 1999 - in Japan using a secret society's uber-rich resources, but 1999 nonetheless. Basically he'd look into Dreamberry tech as soon as possible. More of a note, but I do my best with these older canons to stick to canon and not fanon. I've noticed that many so-called canonical elements get integrated so often into characterizations these days purely because the fandom has had so long to attempt to fill in the plot holes. Weiss Kreuz has a notorious swiss cheese plot, so it seems like it's suffered even more than other series of similar age. For example, I can't imagine that Nagi didn't learn at least some German between all of his time spent out there, but it's not canon and in general not worth bothering in an RP setting anyway. |
